Evelyn Riesner

Owner, Fresh Dish Catering & the Avenue Room

Evelyn Reisner’s passion for food started as a child. Born in Italy, she lived in several different countries and grew up enjoying a wide variety of cuisines. In 2014, she completed the Master Course in Italian Cuisine and Oenology at ICIF in Italy. Later that year she returned to Saskatoon and started Fresh Dish Catering with its core values of making everything from scratch, using the freshest and finest ingredients available.

“To sum up my cooking philosophy: Good food is central to cultural and family traditions, and was integral in our family when I was growing up. All of our happiest moments happened around food. From the Italian tradition, food is best in its simplest and purest form; the taste is in the top quality ingredients and careful preparation which respects the integrity of the food.”

Dave Denny

Owner, Drinkle Building No. 3

Dave Denny and his wife Genevieve have owned and operated the Drinkle Building since 2006 when hurricane Katrina blew them home to Saskatoon. Genevieve is from New Orleans, and Dave was born and raised in Saskatoon. They met in Mexico -- long story. Dave learned entrepreneurship on the family farm in Milden and wanted Drinkle3 to be a business where his son Jonathan could learn those same lessons.

"There were definitely days when I wondered why I had given up a perfectly good salary job to do this, but it really turned out exponentially better than I had ever hoped. As a landlord, I've had the privilege to be part of many hundreds of wonderful people's lives, both business owners and renters from all walks of life. The building was like a blank slate when we bought it, and it has been so fun filling it with vitality."
