A Beautiful Room for Your Unforgettable Day
The Avenue Room is an homage to history, to craftsmanship and beauty, and to la bella vita: the good life. Built in 1913, the room’s energy reflects decades of sparkling parties, sumptuous feasts, and wedding celebrations. Now restored to its original hardwood floors and terra cotta brick walls, it still retains the fantastic antique chandeliers from its days as Lucci’s, one of Saskatoon’s fanciest and most legendary restaurants.
LOCATION
The jewel of the iconic Drinkle No. 3 building in downtown Saskatoon, The Avenue Room is a creative collaboration between building owner Dave Denny and Fresh Dish Catering owner Evelyn Reisner. After years of carefully, artfully bringing to life the past grandeur of the room, Dave ‘happened’ to meet Evelyn, an Italian born and trained chef. (You know how these happenstances go … sprinkle fairy dust here). Together they envisioned and created this unique small event space in Saskatoon; a European flavoured, elegant venue filled with gorgeous detail and character.

With its natural dignity and splendour, The Avenue Room is one of the premier wedding venues in Saskatoon. It has the gravitas and formality to host your ceremony; as well as the glitz and spirit for an enchanting reception. Its turn-of-the-century craftsmanship such as terra cotta bricks, stately pillars, and hardwood floors have been artfully refurbished, but the Room has been purposely finished in neutral colours so that your own personal style may be the focus for your wedding day. About Us
Evelyn Reisner
Evelyn Reisner’s passion for food started as a child. Born in Italy, she lived in several different countries, and grew up enjoying a wide variety of cuisines. In 2014, she completed the Master Course in Italian Cuisine and Oenology at ICIF in Italy. Later that year she returned to Saskatoon and started up Fresh Dish Catering with its core values of making everything from scratch, using the freshest and finest ingredients available.
“To sum up my cooking philosophy: Good food is central to cultural and family traditions, and was integral in our family when I was growing up. All of our happiest moments happened around food. From the Italian tradition, food is best in its simplest and purest form; the taste is in the top quality ingredients and careful preparation which respects the integrity of the food.”
Dave Denny
Dave Denny and his wife Genevieve have owned and operated the Drinkle Building since 2006 when hurricane Katrina blew them home to Saskatoon. Genevieve is from New Orleans, and Dave was born and raised in Saskatoon. They met in Mexico -- long story. Dave learned entrepreneurship on the family farm in Milden and wanted Drinkle3 to be a business where his son Jonathan could learn those same lessons.
"There were definitely days when I wondered why I had given up a perfectly good salary job to do this, but it really turned out exponentially better than I had ever hoped. As a landlord, I've had the privilege to be part of many hundreds of wonderful people's lives, both business owners and renters from all walks of life. The building was like a blank slate when we bought it, and it has been so fun filling it with vitality."
